Albion Dairy Park
Location: 1722 North Spring Street, Los Angeles, CA 90031
Using funding from Prop O, the City of Los Angeles purchased Albion Dairy Park, demolished the buildings on the site, and performed remediation of hazardous materials. Now, the site is being transformed into Albion Riverside Park, which is due to be completed in early 2019. The project is being designed with cutting-edge stormwater management elements and water quality improvement features, including bioswales, bio-retention basins, and pervious paving. Urban stormwater runoff from approximately 300 acres will be diverted from the stormdrains and either used onsite for irrigation or infiltrated into the groundwater. By diverting stormwater from the storm drain, this project will improve water quality in the Los Angeles River and help replenish local groundwater supplies. In addition, Albion Riverside Park will expand the open space of Downey Park and increase community access to the LA River.
