Pacoima Wash Natural Park
Location: Pacoima Wash Natural Park, Bromont Ave, San Fernando, CA 91340
The Pacoima Wash Initiative is a collaborative effort between community residents, youth, community-based organizations, and government agencies and local elected officials from Sylmar, Arleta and Pacoima organized to transform a 10-mile flood control channel. Built in the 1940s, the Pacoima Wash begins at the Pacoima Dam in the San Gabriel Mountains and ends at the Arleta Spreading Grounds. The plan will recognizes that a multi-benefit approach and design can achieve a variety of goals, including improvements in public health, recreation, wildlife habitat, water quality, transportation, and community building. The Initiative was made possible by a Los Angeles County PLACE Grant and has been coordinated for the past three years by Max Podemski, planning director at Pacoima Beautiful.
